The BBC are reporting that feeding Insects to pets could be 'better for them than Top Steak'
The British Veterinary Association (BVA) says some insect-based foods may be better for pets than prime steak.
Although many pet lovers may disagree a survey suggests otherwise. Here at Chubby Mealworms UK we are already aware of the benefits of insects as a sustainable food source and our own beloved dog Jess is a massive fan of our own Dried Mealworms. Jodie from Chubby Mealworms says.....
'Jess loves a mealworms and a Calci worm, she prefers them to traditional forms of dog treats and I love to know she is eating something that is so healthy.'
14-year-old Jess is the picture of health and despite her age she is still very sprightly.
Mainly our customers buy dried mealworms and Calci worms to feed to the Wild Birds or pet reptiles but who knows? Dried insects for Canines could be the next big thing!
We are all aware of the damage our high protein, meat-filled diet is having on our planet and as we strive to promote a more sustainable lifestyle for ourselves this could soon include our pets' diet too.
Insects can be grown in as little as 14 days and it only takes 1 litre of water to produce 1kg of protein compared to producing 1kg of Beef which takes 22,000 litres of water and 10,000 grams of feed. By growing insects instead of producing typical sources of meat from pigs, cattle, and poultry we can protect the worlds limited resources
